Obituary for Pamela Jorgenson
Pamela Patricia Erringer Jorgenson, of Cumby Texas, passed away on September 15, 2024 after a short, but courageous battle with breast cancer. Pam was born to Orville and Virginia Erringer on June 2, 1936 in Hope Arkansas. They moved to Dallas (Highland Park) when she was a toddler. She attended both SMU, where she met and married Harold Dean Jorgenson, and TWU where she received her nursing degree.
She was born during a time when women couldn’t open a bank account, buy a home or fly to space, yet she believed she could accomplish anything.
Becoming a nurse gave her a purpose she’d been looking for. She found great love in being a home health/hospice nurse. Between her children, travel and nursing, her days were full. She had several life changes including divorce and then a long partnership with Charles Wilson. Towards retirement age, she lived the gypsy life, moving around the Hill Country with Charles and eventually settling down in Ajijic, Mexico.
In 2012, she moved to Cumby to be closer to family. She joined Anytime Fitness in Sulphur Springs, was a member of the SS Country Club, became a Master Gardner for Hopkins County. She especially enjoyed her friendships with her Silver Sneakers group.
She is survived by her children: Sheldon Taubin, Dean Jorgenson Jr., Ann Ethridge and her husband Brian, Carol Baxter and her husband Allen Baxter; grandchildren: Christian Contreras, Josh, Laurel and Trenton Taubin, Dane Linyard and his wife Christina, Madeline Linyard; Charleigh Potts and her great grandchildren; Kendall, Landon Taubin and Link Linyard.
Pam’s life reflected God’s love and the way He worked through her. Not in the conventional sense. She didn’t attend church regularly, she didn’t worship with a congregation. She said her mission in life was “to serve”. And in this sense, He worked through her. She’s had the most wonderful experiences, had loving relationships and been loved by many people. She’s also been a gift to many people. She’s helped those who were sick, given aid to those fighting to live, and held the hands of those who were passing from this life to the next. God has a special place for her, right by His side and all of heaven will be better with her there.
