Obituary for Hans Bos
  • PublishedSeptember 19, 2024

Hans-Niek Bos passed away on September 11, 2024, at the age of 41 in Saltillo Texas, in the event of a tragic workplace accident. He was an excellent father, a hardworking farmer, a dearest son and brother, and a reliable friend. His hard work and love for those around him left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Hans-Niek was born on November 12, 1982, in Aduard, a small village in the north of The Netherlands. He was named after his mother’s great-aunt and great-uncle Johanna and Niek de Koning as they had a special place in their family.

Hans-Niek grew up in Aduard, attending primary school “The Rainbow” in his hometown, after which he continued on to pre-vocational secondary education at an agricultural school where he graduated at the young age of 16.

Raised by Wessel and Greetje Bos, Hans-Niek grew up surrounded by four brothers – Remmelt, Werner, Guido, Steven – and his sister, Annegreet.

At the age of 20, Hans-Niek chose adventure and moved to New Zealand to work at a farm for two years. After returning to The Netherlands, he realized that his homeland felt too small and didn’t offer him the space he needed, so he left for Texas, America. From that moment, he dropped his second name and called himself Hans.

Hans spent more than 18 years at various places in Texas. In the last years of his life, he lived in Saltillo with his two beloved children Adalyn Nicole and Connor Dirk. As a dedicated father, he poured his heart into raising his kids, providing them everything they needed.

Hans was a beloved person in his neighborhood. His house was a place of joy and laughter. He was always there for everyone who needed him. Hans was a hard worker, and he enjoyed the companionship with his coworkers at the dairy, where he was more than just an employee – he was part of the family.

Hans lived for his kids and his job. His presence will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, 876 Wildcat Way, Sulphur Springs, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and say their goodbyes during a visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM at the same address.
