2024 Hopkins County Fall Festival is Back with Fun for the Whole Family
The 55th annual Hopkins County Fall Festival, presented by Nottingham’s Sulphur Springs Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, is back and promises to be better than ever! With a diverse range of events and activities lined up throughout October, this year’s festival is set to provide maximum fall fun for attendees of all ages.
October: Hay Bale Contest
The festival kicks off with the Hay Bale Contest, sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank. These hay bales are a creative display of artistry all around town throughout the month of October. It’s a delightful way for the community to showcase their artistic talents and celebrate the season. Hay bales must be completed by October 21 as judging will be held October 22. You can participate in multiple bale or single bale categories. Shirley Patchen does a wonderful job each year by helping businesses get involved and judging the event. October 9-13: Fall Festival Carnival
Starting on Wednesday, October 9, the Triple T’s Amusements will take over the SSHS parking lot, thanks to the sponsorship of City National Bank. This carnival will run through Sunday, October 13, offering exciting rides for all ages, games, fair food, and more. Tickets for the carnival are available for purchase at Super Handy Convenience Stores for $25 or at the gate for $30. It’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy some fun together.
October 19: Fall Festival Parade
The annual Fall Festival Parade, sponsored by Bell Concrete, is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19. The parade will wind its way from Buford Park to Brookshire’s Grocery Store, featuring local first responders, civic groups, businesses, churches, and more. If you’d like to participate in the parade, simply email hopcofallfest@gmail.com. Line up at Buford Park starts at 9 a.m.! Following the parade, don’t forget to stop by the Autumn on Main Market for live music, food, & shopping. 
October 25-26: Creative Arts Contest, Arts & Crafts Market, Kids’ Zone, and Local Vendor & Exhibition Show
On Friday, October 25, SSHS will host the Creative Arts Contest, giving Hopkins County residents the chance to showcase their talents in quilting, woodworking, baking, and more. This event is a testament to the creative spirit of our local artists. Public viewing is available after judging from 1:30 p.m – 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday. Craft enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Arts & Crafts Show taking place in the SSHS Cafeteria. This market for crafts only will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. From wreaths to handmade soaps and pickles to holiday decor, there’s something for everyone. Contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office at 903-885-3443 for more information.
Meanwhile, the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center will come alive with exhibition and vendor booths with the help of our sponsor, Saputo. Let the kids hangout at the Kids’ Zone inside the rodeo arena while you check out the Vendor Exhibit featuring boutiques, small businesses, and organizations. At the Kids’ Zone, sponsored by Signature Solar, you’ll find activities full of free entertainment for the little ones. Endless fun is to be had with bounce houses, horse rides, coloring and face painting. It’s the perfect opportunity for shopping enthusiasts to discover unique offerings from clothing to crafts. The Civic Center and Kids’ Zone will be open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday
