Female MMA Fighter & Owner of 2A Fitness Joins Janet Martin Realty
After COVID hit hard in many states, the restrictions and lockdowns forced many to flee in search of a better life for themselves. Sarah Howell and her family were one of those. In Washington state, she says, “we already felt separated from the state in our political views, values and morals and didn’t want to raise our kids in public schools, but when COVID hit, we knew we had to leave!” Traveling approximately 1,974 miles, the Howell’s left Washington and moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas.
New beginnings can challenge the best of us, especially finding new community. However, Sarah and her husband, Jerad, quickly noticed a positive difference that gave them hope. “The thing we love most about living in Texas versus Washington state is the sense of pride people have as Texans and Americans. What we specifically love about living in Sulphur Springs is living in the presence of God. We have found a home here at The Way Bible Church that has been truly life changing! We love our church family and are thankful for our life changing encounter with God,” she says.
So how did the Howell’s pick Sulphur Springs of all the places to live in the whole United States of America? Sarah shares, “my husband graduated from Parker School of Chiropractic in 2009, so he was very familiar with Texas and fond of the Dallas area. In 2013, we lived in Marble Falls for 2 years and loved the area, but the cost of living had increased so much since we had lived there before that it discouraged us from moving back [to that area].” Having loved the Dallas area, but not wanting to live inside DFW, Jerad began looking for jobs nearby. That’s when they discovered Sulphur Springs.
“We were able to find a chiropractic office hiring, we had an interview and instantly fell in love with the town,” says Sarah.
Sarah also has trained to be an MMA fighter for several years. Just recently, she decided to return to MMA and compete again—giving it one last shot. Overall, her background includes over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry where she has thrived as a personal trainer.
After owning Wolfpack Fitness for 8 years in Washington, Sarah and Jerad opened a new fitness center in town. She says, “Our business here in Sulphur Springs is called 2nd Amendment Fitness and Sports Medicine. Our business houses both my husband’s chiropractic business and my fitness business.” Besides being a real estate agent, Sarah also teaches boxing classes at their gym. Their mission, she says, is “to influence people to improve their health and build strength both mentally and physically.”
As for Sulphur Springs, you can say Sarah’s family is partial to a particular BBQ place. Even though we have some of the best in this area, she says, “We love many of the local small businesses in the area but one of our favorites that comes to mind is Slaughter’s BBQ! Not only do they have amazing food but the vibe of the restaurant is so laid back and welcoming. We can’t help but visit the beautiful Goodeye Market! Owners, Kimberly and David Slaughter are such great people and have welcomed us into the community with open arms. They have become friends and we know it’s not just us, they treat all their customers this way! Also, live music on Saturday night! Enough said!”
Friendly folks, great places to shop, eat, or play, combined with community events in an area surrounded by lakes tends to be what newcomers or visitors enjoy most.
As a wife and mother to two wonderful children, Sarah stays busy with family too. Her daughter, Paisley, is in 8th grade and plays volleyball, basketball, and softball but loves all sports. Preston, her son, is in 4th and loves basketball and football. Sarah’s husband, Jerad, is a sports-medicine-based chiropractor, specializing in athletes of all ages. As a family, they love the outdoors and staying active.
Sarah’s life may have changed when she relocated to Texas but it was during this transition that her fascination with real estate blossomed. Motivated by her own experiences of relocating, she embarked on a real estate career, driven by a desire to assist others navigating similar transitions. She loves working with new families moving into the area, knowing how challenging it can be.
Above all, Sarah treasures the opportunity to forge lasting relationships with her clients. She understands the significance of finding not just a house, but a place to call home—a sentiment she holds dear from her own experiences. With Sarah by your side, you can rest assured that your journey to finding your dream home will be marked by support, guidance, and a shared vision.
