Obituary for Delores Lundgren
Delores Lundgren passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 9, surrounded by her family.
She was born October 26, 1933, in Sulphur Springs to Joe Bailey McMahan and Rita Cork McMahan. She married Bennie D. Lundgren in Hugo, Oklahoma, on September 16, 1953.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Kenneth McMahan.
Delores worked as a hospital and home health nurse for over forty years and was beloved by her patients for her compassion and kindness. Her life came full circle as she received the same kind of compassionate care that she had given so many others from her own hospice nurses: T.J., Lisa, and Amanda from Choice Hospice.
Delores enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, watching old movies, and eating chocolate. She was an avid dog lover who especially adored pugs.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Jo Underwood and husband Jesse of Sulphur Springs and Laura Lundgren Smith and husband Ben of Fort Worth; grandchildren Brandie Brown of Sulphur Springs, Megan Harber of Tyler, and India Smith of Fort Worth; great- grandchildren Cy Killam of Harrison Township, Michigan, Jadon Peek of Sulphur Springs, and Sam Miles and Bailey Harber of Tyler; and great-great-granddaughter Dellah Mae Killam of Harrison Township, Michigan.
In keeping with her concern for others and her desire to assist medical students in their studies, Delores willed her body to the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. Her wish was that no memorial service be held. For those who would like to honor her memory, the family kindly suggests donations to the Sulphur Springs Meal A Day program, or the DFW Pug Rescue.
