HMEC would like to welcome Vornetta Trotter as one of our full time providers!
Vornetta Powell Trotter was born in Texarkana and raised in nearby New Boston, TX. She graduated from New Boston High School where she was an athlete playing volleyball, basketball and running track. She began her medical career as a Certified Nurses Aid, then transitioned to a phlebotomist position. She then attended Trinity Valley Community College obtaining her LVN and began working at the VA medical center in Dallas, and at hospitals in Texarkana. Vornetta continued her education at Trinity Valley Community College, graduating with her Associates Degree in Nursing, and becoming an RN. As an RN student at Trinity Valley, Vornetta was the faculty choice for the Florence Nightingale award, presented to a single recipient in each graduating class, and she was the first recipient who had obtained LVN licensure, then returned to complete the Associates program. As an RN, she worked at Medical City facilities in the Dallas area, and at Christus St. Michael Texarkana, where she assisted in developing the Trauma Center as the Trauma coordinator in 2010. During this time Vornetta continued her nursing education at Texas A&M Texarkana, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2009, and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration in 2012. Vornetta became an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2016 when she completed a post-graduate certificate as Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Women’s University. She has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department and as an internal medicine hospitalist.

Vornetta resides in Sulphur Springs with her husband. She has two sons, and two granddaughters who are the light of her life! Seldom does a week go by when they do not spend a night (or several!) with “ Gigi.” Their favorite activity is a spa date to get their toes and nails done! Vornetta is interested in fitness and likes to spend time doing yoga. She is a travel enthusiast as well and is always ready for a trip to Vegas!
HMEC is proud to have Vornetta! Come see her for all your Urgent Care, Primary Care and Occupational health needs! She also offers Evexipel hormone therapy.
