On Monday, May 29, SSHS choir competed at Texas State Solo & Ensemble in Pflugerville. Of the 23 students that attended, 2 students achieved 1st division (superior) ratings and 10 achieved 2nd division (excellent) ratings.

Seniors Lausen Ost and Solar Driver (pictures) received comments such as, “WOW! Exciting voice!”, “SO well prepared,” “Thank you for thinking about the text you are singing,” and “keep it up!” Their dedication to their craft and practice earned them gold medals. The choir program couldn’t be prouder of these two.

Other stellar musicians earning 2nd division ratings are, Colbie Glenn, Sallee Spraggins, Mikel Godwin, Reese Offutt, Ashland Hooten, Kaisy Garcia-Hidalgo, Axel Garcia, Celeste McCoy, and Danielle Verlander, Alan Guzman.

The choir program would like to thank the unsung heroes of our performances – our accompanists. We are grateful for Chad Houk, Melissa Bilyeu, and Mary Ellen Kirkland forming our students’ music learning experience and performance technique.
