Lady Cats Look To Put Series Away In Game 2

The No. 2 ranked Sulphur Springs Lady Cats opened their best-of-three Regional Semifinal series against Aubrey Wednesday with a 3-0 shutout win. Tonight, the two teams will face off again, with the Lady Cats looking to complete their two-game sweep and advance to the Regional Finals.
Sulphur Springs was the road team in Game One and got the offense rolling early, plating three runs in the top of the second to give ace Crimson Bryant a fairly comfortable lead to work with. Bryant continued her incredible postseason run by once again throwing another shutout.
Bryant has thrown all 47 innings of postseason play so far, and has still yet to allow an earned run. The Lady Cats have only allowed one run through the playoffs so far, which was an unearned run in their series clinching win against Van in the Regional Quarterfinals.
The Lady Cats need just one more win against the Lady Chaparrals and will have two opportunities to do so, though they will be looking to finish the job in Game Two. Thursday’s Game Two is set for 6:30 p.m. at Princeton High School.
Sulphur Springs spent much of the season and entered the postseason ranked No. 3 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll. Now a perfect now a perfect 7-0 in postseason play, and winning those seven games by a combined score of 40-1, they have now climbed to No. 2 in the rankings.
