Graveside service for James “Dave” Ellington, age 83 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Ellington passed away on March 23, 2023 at his residence.

 

Dave was born on July 9, 1939 to James Hezekiah and Oleta (Williams) Ellington in Sherman, Texas. Dave was a graduate of Texas A&M at College Station, where he earned his bachelors, masters, and PhD in Science. He taught science at several different schools throughout Texas, as well as being an expert bootmaker that owned and operated “Dave’s Boot and Shoe Repair”, where he made leather cowboy boots by hand. He also raised thoroughbred horses. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and at the Grapevine Masonic Lodge.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Dorothy Ellington; son, Dane Ellington of Washington, DC; stepdaughters, Melanie and husband, Jamie Hager, Michelle Hill Fowler of Ft. Worth, TX; stepson, Russell Hill of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Ashley Gahagan Wallace, Kristin Fowler, Kay Fowler and Daniel Longoria; eight great grandchildren, Joel and Kaylynn Wallace, Stella, Abby and Saxin Fowler, Baylee, Ava and Dennis Longoria.

 

James was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Barry Ellington and son, Chris Ellington.
