Mrs. Allen passed away peacefully at her home and into the arms of Jesus on Sunday morning, January 29, 2023.

Mary Allen was born July 23, 1932 in Sulphur Springs to Joe Edwards and Callie (Phillips) Edwards. She married Wayne Allen in Sulphur Springs on May 9, 1953. He was her very best friend for sixty-nine years. Until her illness, she was a faithful member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church and loved her church family. Mary retired from Cravers Brother’s Hardware after twenty-one years. She then worked for the City of Sulphur Springs and retired after twenty years as Tax Clerk.

Her family and close friends lovingly called her Po, or Po-Baby. She enjoyed spending time with them, especially if there were funny stories or laughing involved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, caring and a testament to her Christian faith.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Allen; daughters, Beth Adams (Butch) of Sulphur Springs and Roseanna Brock (Brandon) of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Cheve Adams, Nathan Adams, Zachary Adams, Brennan Brock, Brylee Brock; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mary had excellent care givers during her illness, including Diona Jones, Kim and Terry from First Choice Home Health, Terisa and Emma from Choice Legacy and Dr. Bridgette Coker.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William and Nelson Edwards.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
