AT HOME WITH KAYLA PRICE 1/20: Goals

Welcome to 2023!

Call them new year’s resolutions or goals for the year.  I like to write down what I hope to accomplish in the next 12 months of my life.

Remember one of the exchanges in Alice in Wonderland which can be summed up as, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.”    If we don’t set personal goals, how do we move ahead in life?

I don’t really make my plans too detailed, not too overwhelming.  I just like to have a few tasks identified that I want to accomplish.  The task can be something to look forward to or something to aspire to.

This year my husband and I each set an individual goal which turned out to be the same.  We want to get organized.  Although I feel I am pretty well organized (I already have my funeral planned out, just in case), there is one aspect of organization that I want to work on.  I want to pare down my stuff.  Be it dishware or paperwork, I want less of it.  I want a place for everything and everything in its place.   My husband has a different aspect of organization that he wants to tackle in 2023.

As with all goals, the best place to start is with something small and manageable.  I have chosen to start with the butler’s pantry.  I think it will be one of those projects that will get worse before it gets better as I empty shelves to decide what to keep and what goes.

First up I ordered lots of cute containers to use for storage.  Next up, empty shelves, cabinets, drawers and remove everything on the countertop.  This may take a month to do all I need to do in that area.  If that is the case, it is going to be a long year involving some part of the house continually being in disarray.

Hummm, maybe 2022 wasn’t so bad after all?
