“When I first got on council, I didn’t understand what it took to run this city,” said mayor Doug Moore. “I do now and that made me realize what a great bunch of employees this city has.”

Nuss’s wife Lori submitted a speech for Nuss’s posthumous award. It was read into the record by city manager Marc Maxwell.

“In the Bible, in the book of Ecclesiastes, it says that a man can do nothing better than find satisfaction in his work,” Maxwell read. “Russ [Nuss] found satisfaction in working for the city. He was proud to work here and told many people it was a good place to work.”
