Funeral services for James Wallace Young will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at League Street Church of Christ (1100 S League St, Sulphur Springs, TX) with Bro. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (376 CR 1175, Sulphur Springs, TX) with Chauncey Hawkins, Chris Young, Darius Raisey, Eric Hynson, Reggie Howard, and Richard Wilson, Brian Vaughn, Gerald Young Jr., Greg Scurlark, and Lawson Crook serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at MLK Church of Christ (154 Martin Luther King Dr., Sulphur Springs, TX).

James was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on July 20, 1942 the son of Wallace and Opal (Pryor) Young. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1961. He married Billie Rose Weeks on February 11, 1963. She preceded him in death on January 3, 1993. He married Ophelia Rosa Graham Davis on April 8, 1994 in Greenville. James retired from Specialty Foods/Morningstar in 2000 after 28 years of dedicated service. After serving as a Deacon and Elder at MLK Church of Christ he became a member at League Street Church of Christ where he served as a Sunday school teacher.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ophelia Young; mother, Opal Young; children, Michael Young, Antwone Young (Jamie), La’Shawn Wilson (Richard), Camellia Davis, Tracey Davis (Tommy Woods), Stacey Essix, and Calvin Davis (Melissa); grandchildren, Matthew Young, Jacob Young, DaMarques Davis, Da’Anta Davis,Yakira Essix, Danielle Essix, Dahayna Essix, Chrisin Davis, Khani Davis, Khai Davis, Khalon Davis, Keanu Davis, Terence Garner Jr., Tiffany Garner, and Justin Davis; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Scott, Janice Murray (Homer), Delores Ritz (Kenneth), Wanda Scurlark (Edward), Gerald Young (Paula), Barbara Hawkins (Herbert), Ricky Young (Tina), Creshel Bishop (Antoine), and Felecia Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
