Funeral service for Janice Petty, age 86 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Jenkins, Dr. Jeff Gravens and Cole Newsom officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery with Cole Newsom, Cade Newsom, Rhett Newsom, Peyton Howard, Mark Maddox, Garrett Lockhart, James Calderbank, Bobby Beck, Sam Johnson and Tracy Johnson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Petty passed away on November 8, 2022 at Carriage House Manor.

Janice was born on October 1, 1936 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Corbett and Louise (Stewart) Parker. She married Jakie Petty on January 6, 1962 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Janice was a home maker. She also worked at Dr. Lester Hodges medical office; she was a salesclerk at Marshall Department Store. Janice was also a co-owner of the Shoe Inn shoe store.

She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Tate and Vicki Newsom and husband, Jack, Lesley Ann Grant and husband, Chuck; sons, Keith Maddox and wife, Toni, Mike Petty and wife, Kara; grandchildren, Josh Morris, Brooke Howard, Cole Newsom and wife, Erica, Cade Newsom, Michael Ray Petty, Mark Maddox, Kaitlin Maddox and Aaron Mushinski, Bailee Calderbank and husband, James, Emily Petty and Lance Burdick, Garrett Lockhart and wife, Katy, Addey Ann Owens; eight great grandchildren and sister, Bonnie Huffstetler.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jakie and two sons, Johnny Petty and Jakie Petty Jr.
