In lieu of Pet of the Week for November 8, the Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter is preparing an adoption open house for November 12. The event will take place at the shelter (1313 Hillcrest Dr N) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors can check out some of the recent improvements to the facility, and maybe find a best friend in the process!

There are several cats and dogs available for adoption, including long-time canine residents Weave, Carter, Rhome, Celeste, Brandon, and Whiskey.

The shelter will be selling lunches and chances to win a basket of supplies for your cat or dog. Volunteers will also be on hand to answer questions and give out information about volunteering for the shelter.

About adoptable dogs:

Weave: Weave is the shelter’s longest resident and has been there over a year. He has spent most of his life in a shelter, he deserves a home, a family, a warm bed and a yard to play in but he hasn’t found that yet. He is a 1.5-year-old mixed breed who is good with other dogs and kids. His personality is calm enough that he rode on a float in the Fall Festival parade!

Carter: Carter is a mixed-breed who is nearing one year old. At 25 pounds, he’s one of the smallest dogs at the shelter. He is great with other dogs and kids of all ages.

Rhome: Rhome is a 1 year old husky mix. He is great with dogs, kids and even cats! For a young guy he is pretty calm and loves everyone he meets.

Celeste: Celeste is a 2-year-old hound mix. This sweet girl has had a rough life and needs a loving and caring family. She is good with other dogs and cats, and would be good with kids.

Brandon: Brandon is a 3-year-old Heeler mix. He is great with other dogs and would be good with kids. He loves everyone he meets. He wants a job to do.

Whiskey: Whiskey is a heeler mix, not even a year old yet. Whiskey is great with other dogs and would be great with kids.  He just wants a home to call his own.
