A graveside service for Phyllis (Pepper) Carter, age 73, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Sharp Cemetery in Yantis, Texas with a visitation being held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ms. Carter passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.
Phyllis was born on March 12, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Elwin Franklin and Mary Louise (Ashley) Pepper. In 1983, she married Dean Carter in Oklahoma. Phyllis dedicated her life to taking care of her home and her children.
She is survived by her children, Floyd Newby of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Velma Newby of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Mary Roxann Smith, and husband Mike, of Dennison, Texas; husband, Dean Carter of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Newby, Georgia Bailey, Topanga Bailey, and five other grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Jackson Harville and Avary Harville; and six great grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Elwin Franklin Pepper and Mary Louise (Ashley) Pepper; sons, Robert McDaniel, Jr. and Robert Roberts; and brother, Franklin Pepper.
