Good will be taken for evil; evil will be taken for good.  That Biblical reference pretty much summarizes the result of our current battle against unseen powers and principalities.  We’re not talking superstition or boogyman.  How else can you explain a world literally turned upside down.  At times it almost looks like the Tribulation predicted in the Bible when the Spirit of God has departed and left mankind to its own devices.

Believers look at the crime, violence, price issues, immigration chaos, housing shortages, gas price increases, declining schools, and attacks on traditional values and feel overwhelmed.  We know Someone bigger than us is in control, but we struggle with day-to-day living.  Sometimes we feel guilty for whining when others have it much worse than us.  We wonder if we can stretch our meager savings and limited fixed incomes to cover the rapidly growing cost for everything in our lives.

In the back of our minds we might wonder if the Supreme Being is letting us dangle out there on the end of a line to see how we like it trying to do it by ourselves.  Maybe it is a genuine effort on His part to try and draw us closer to Him.  Whatever we’re doing now doesn’t seem to be working.  Shortly after 9/11 we saw a surge in church attendance as people felt a need for protection and guidance from a spiritual being.  He lifted His little finger from off of New York City as the Towers fell.  He got our attention.

Today it seems more pervasive, more subtle.   The hand has slipped from the knee to the thigh.  Katie bar the door.  Almost every facet of our lives has been twisted, turned upside down, leaving us to expect the worst when we turn on the TV or check the news feed on our phones.

The challenge for all of us is to not let our lives become dominated by fear and pessimism.  I like to believe that I’m a realist.  Our country didn’t fall into this toilet overnight; it may take a while to right the ship.  Most of us down deep feel we can regain our balance and equilibrium if our leaders would simply stop the insanity and return our country’s operation to one based on practical common sense looking to do what is best for our people’s good.

Believers can see the evil behind the chaos.  We’ve seen God turn His people over to their own devices in the past.  Maybe He’s doing it again.  While there’s still breath, there’s still time.  There’s a large army of timid warriors waiting to be awakened.  Sound the trumpet once more before the Rapture.  Awake from our slumber and charge into action.
