Sulphur Springs ISD Bond Proposal
On November 8, 2022, Sulphur Springs ISD is asking taxpayers to pass an $81.5 million bond.
As a member of the SSISD Board of Trustees, I support this investment in our community that positively affects 4,370 students, 715 district employees, and the Sulphur Springs community.
The improvements provided by the bond will significantly enhance our community and learning environment.
This bond achieves three important necessities of SSISD:
- 1) Improved safety and security of campuses;
- 2) Replacement of a 67-year-old elementary school; and
- 3) Needed renovations of 4 campuses.
These improvements will impact students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community volunteers.
SSISD is one of the most important agents for growth of Sulphur Springs. Many local businesses, including SSISD, employ current and former students of the district.
To continue to produce a workforce that will perpetuate the local and regional economy, we must ensure our schools provide the best learning environments the community can support. This bond provides the resources needed to address essential improvements to SSISD campuses that will in turn benefit business and industry.
Schools are a vital necessity to our community and prepare students for future professions such as teachers, doctors, accountants, mechanics, scientists, and many others.
In addition, community schools provide support services through local non-profits, businesses, faith-based organizations, and higher education institutions; create opportunities for family and community engagement; and facilitate collaborative partnerships among parents, students, school administrators and community leaders.
Sulphur Springs needs strong schools in a rhythm of continuous improvement to achieve optimal learning for all stakeholders.
Please join me and vote “For” passage of the bond.
