Senior Center names new interim director
Kathie Steele, former business office manager for the city of Sulphur Springs, has been appointed interim director of the Senior Activity Center.The appointment comes after former director Karon Weatherman tendered her resignation after 21.5 years on Monday.
“I did something the city didn’t like and they said I went against city policy,” Weatherman wrote on social media.
City manager Marc Maxwell communicated that the Meal a Day program has not had a gap in coverage, and sent out meals on its regular schedule.
Maxwell declined to comment further on the record regarding Weatherman’s resignation. Steele served the city for approximately 30 years prior to retirement and has spent time volunteering at the Senior Activity Center.
