Though the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats haven’t played a game in over two months, the accolades have continued to reign in for them. After an incredible season in the circle, junior Crimson Bryant was selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association 5A All-State Softball team.

On top of that, Bryant was also named First Team Pitcher to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Softball team for 2022. The accolades, while incredibly impressive, should come as no surprise, as Bryant had yet another stellar season.

Bryant was also named MVP of District 15-5A, after helping lead her team to yet another district championship. As the ace of the team, Bryant finished the season with a record of 21-2 and was also selected to the TGCA Red-Blue All Star Team, which will be held later this week.

Bryant was not only the ace of the team, but also a workhorse, tallying exactly 160 innings of work this season. In those 160 innings, she allowed just 16 runs, giving her an incredible ERA of 0.10.

Even with an incredible impressive ERA, perhaps even more impressive was her number of strikeouts. In 160 innings of work, Bryant retired a jaw-dropping 346 batters via the strikeout. That number comes out to just over two batters per inning on average.

She also finished the season with a fantastic WHIP, a stat that measures how many walks plus hits a pitcher allows per inning. Allowing just 66 hits and only 30 walks this season, Bryant finished with a WHIP of 0.60.

“What a great honor and she’s only a junior,” Lady Cats softball head coach David Carrillo said. “So many great things to come for this young lady [who is] playing for something more!”

“She is not only one of the best players I ever coached but a super kid,” Carrillo aded. “She is on my First Team All-World Servant/Team Leader! Congrats and well deserved!”

The accolades continue to rack up for Bryant, who will be returning next season to lead her team to another playoff run, this time, at the 4A level. She also had an incredible sophomore campaign in which she struck out 303 batters.

With a total of 649 strikeouts over the past two seasons, Bryant will have the opportunity to reach an incredible 1,000 career strikeouts next season, needing 351 more. While that would be an unfathomable number for most pitchers, Bryant would need just five more than she had this season.

After very impressive campaigns in each her sophomore and junior seasons, the sky is the limit for her senior season.
