Many of Hopkins County’s small communities host annual homecomings during the summer months. Here are information about those being held this summer: 

  • Long Cemetery– The annual reunion will take place June 4 at 11 a.m. A potluck luncheon will be served after the meeting concludes. Bring a dish to pass, drinks and serving-ware provided. For more info contact secretary Theresa White at 972-679-4576 (photo via Texas Cemetery Directory)
  • Aiguier Cemetery Association– will have their annual meeting on Sunday, June 5, at the North Hopkins School Cafeteria at 12 p.m. noon. A pot-luck lunch will be shared with a brief business meeting to follow (photo via Hopkins County Genealogical Society)
  • Arbala Cemetery– will have their annual meeting on Sunday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the community center. Lunch will be provided (photo via Texas Cemetery Directory)
  • Mahoney– will have its reunion after two years of hiatus on June 12 at 10:30 a.m. with a basket lunch at noon. For more information contact Sue Milligan at 903-438-2390 (photo via GoogleMaps) 
  • Winterfield Cemetery– Memorial Day will be held Sunday, June 26 at Winterfield Baptist Church, 915 Co Rd 2400, Pickton, Texas. Service will begin at 10:00am and will include program, business meeting and lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring food to be included in potluck lunch.   • Pine Forest– Memorial Day service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Pine Forest Methodist Church. A report will be given on the current affairs of the cemetery, a short program, then time for fellowship and lunch at 12:00 PM (noon), at the Pine Forest community center. The cemetery association will provide the lunch but if you would like to bring something, please bring your favorite dessert to share. To help us with the headcount please RSVP to either Dianna McGregor at 903-348-9050 or Daci Rawson at 903-348-3605, please call or text your response.
  • Nelta Cemetery– Homecoming will be held at noon on Sunday, June 12 at the Nelta Community Center on FM 71 E. A covered dish lunch will be enjoyed by everyone present followed by fellowship.
    The annual business meeting will be held the following evening, June 13 at 7:00 pm at the Nelta Community Center. Current financial status of the cemetery, bylaw changes and status of continuing homecoming will be discussed. For further information contact: Jan Bartley, Secretary/Treasurer at 903 945-2689.
  • Weaver– Memorial Day will be on June 5th at 11:00 AM at the Cemetery. We will have chairs set up in front of the Veterans Memorial for the program and business meeting. Following that lunch will be provided and we will have tables set up in the cemetery or across the street at the park. Tea, water and dessert will also be furnished.
