Each year at Front Porch News we have the privilege to honor graduating high school seniors who will be joining the US Military, fire service, police or EMS.

Quinton Chace Mitchell attends Sulphur Springs High School and will attend his two week live fire a week after graduation. He will start EMT school.

Jake Weston Armstrong is graduating from Sulphur Springs High School.  Jake has successfully completed the courses for Firefighter and EMT and passed the state test for his Firefighter certification.  He will take the National Registry exam for his EMT certification the week after graduation.  Jake plans to continue his education and will pursue his Paramedic certification beginning this fall.

Bradley Steven Futch is graduating from Sulphur Springs High School and has already signed up for Army National Guard in January. He leaves for basic training this summer.

Scott Major has been accepted into the fire academy here in Sulphur Springs. He’s a graduating senior at Miller Grove High School and was also selected for the scholarship from Professional Firefighters Association.

Brett Lester  is graduating Sulphur Springs High on Friday and is going into the United States Marine Corp. Brett will be leaving in July.  He received the Sgt. Tanner Stone Higgins Memorial Scholarship award.

Aidyn Rogers is a graduating senior at Sulphur Springs High School. He enlisted in November in the Army National Guard and will be leaving for boot camp after the summer. When he returns, he will attend Texas A&M University to pursue a career in Christian Counseling. 
 
Ashtyn Bettis attends Sulphur Springs High School. Following Graduation she will be taking her national test for EMT. She is already a certified Firefighter and has completed the EMT course. She is currently a volunteer firefighter for Brinker fire. She plans to work in firefighting or as a EMT while completing her paramedic license. 
 
Dakota Mathis will be graduating from Sulphur Bluff High School and continuing his training In the Texas Army National Guard.

Evan Alexander Patrick is a Sulphur Springs 2022 graduate and has joined the United States Marine Corps.

Maddox Miller is a graduating senior at Sulphur Springs and has enlisted in the Marine Corps. “Beyond proud of my son!” said his mother Leslie. 
 
Adam Jace Peckham will be graduating from SSHS and has completed Fire/EMT training. He will continue his education towards a paramedic certification after graduation.
 

PFC Blake Hume is a senior at Sulphur Bluff High School. He enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard in October 2020. He did Split Ops, so he graduated boot camp in August of 2021 from Ft. Sill in Oklahoma. He will be heading to Ft. Lee in Virginia for AIT training in July after graduation. “We are extremely proud of him,” said his mom Vicki.   

Clayton Austin Boykin has joined the Marines with a goal to be in the Recon company. He will be leaving July 18th. Clayton is a native of Sulphur Springs. His accomplishments include being a member of the National Honor Society, Rotary Youth Leadership Association, FFA/AG mechanics state qualifier, Drum Major 2021-2022 and several other awards and nominations over his high school career.  Clayton was proudly submitted by his parents Paul and Jennifer Hoppa. 

Benjamin Hatcher is graduating from Sulphur Springs High School and intends to enter the Army to specialize as a Combat Medic. Ben has also graduated Firefighter training and is EMT certified. He will leave for basic training in August.

Cason Nathaniel Arrington will attend Fire In Texas next January to obtain his Firefighter/EMT certification. Cason will then attend a paramedic program to further his education. Cason will also be enrolled in an irrigation program to obtain his irrigation license.  We are all so unbelievably happy for Cason and can’t wait to see him succeed in life. His dad Jason, mom Charlotte and Casons siblings are so proud of his accomplishments!

Jeremy Joslin had already started the EMT program this past Monday and plans to attend Sulphur Springs or Collin County fire academy. He graduated from Commerce High School on Friday May 27th. He was proudly submitted by Tammy Joslin.
