National Day of Prayer was recognized in Sulphur Springs last night on the court house steps in Celebration Plaza.Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom welcomed the crowd and gave out thanks to those who helped to make the event possible.  He opened the event with a prayer and welcomed the community and trustees to pray with them and the Nation.  The evening prayer service was filled with prayers from community members and praise and worship songs from members in the community as well.Pastor Jason Dietz prayed next to help bring everyone together in the town towards God. Which was reiterated by Mr. Duffy in his words “we are all one accord here tonight.”The nation was a strong focal point of the evening for those praying over the crowd on this day.The National Day of Prayer was originally signed into law in 1952. Since that date organizations have tried to get the government to declare the day unconstitutional or declare a National Day of Reason as well. This years theme is “Exalt the Lord who has established us.” To further highlight this theme, Colossians 2:6-7. Sulphur Springs organizers took it a step further and also acknowledge the versus 2 Chronicles 7:14.

The evening concluded with a strong community who share love and belief.
