8 Things To Do Before Moving Out

8 Things To Do Before Moving Out
  • PublishedMay 3, 2022

Moving from one home to another is almost always a stressful process. There’s important things to remember and we’re here to line out 8 tasks to add to your check list!

Secure Water Line to Ice Maker.

When you remove your refrigerator, this little hose can leak water for hours unnoticed. Which can lead to lots of water damage of floors, cabinets, or walls.

Washer & Dryer Area.

Again, another area where a disconnected water line can wreak havoc on a house. Make sure it is turned off and secure the hose.

Windows & Doors.

Make sure all windows are shut and locked. No need to tempt a burglar or leave a crack open for rain to come inside. Also, ensure all doors are properly latched and locked.

Garage Door Clicker & Gate Openers.

The new owners or renters will need these items, so either leave them in the house or with the buyer’s agent.

Address Change.

Get your mail forwarded to your new address and take advantage of the coupons that come inside the Post Office’s moving packet for changes.

Appliance Warranties.

Leave any appliance, HVAC, etc. warranty information for new owner.

Leave Extra Keys.

New owners will most likely re-key the house but it helps to have spare keys until they are able to get new ones. Don’t forget any keys to storage buildings as well.

Disconnect Utilities.

As soon as you do not need them, contact your cable company, water & sewer, electric, & trash pickup. Notify them that you’ve moved and have them remove your name from utilities at that address.
