A Great Way to Honor our Local Veterans

[adning id=”33097″]

The Hopkins County Freedom Ball is fast approaching, and your attendance is a wonderful way to show that you care about our Veterans!  For the $125 ticket price, you will enjoy a lovely dinner, tributes to Veterans, and an overall evening of fun. This event started in 2018 to pay for maintenance of the downtown Veterans Memorial and to sponsor names of eligible Veterans to add to the wall.

Entertainment through the years has included live vocal performances and bands as well as dancing.  Regardless of the food or entertainment, this is such a supportive and patriotic event to attend. You will see folks donning their finery with some Veterans dressed in their military uniforms. But more than just fun and fanfare, this is an event with a cause.  Proceeds of the event will be used for special projects, such as a scholarship and purchasing a van for the transport of Veterans, as well as the ongoing maintenance of the downtown Veterans Memorial.

This group has brought Neal McCoy to town and hosted his local performance.  They also sponsored the Wall that Heals last year.  Both events were top notch offerings that were available to local and area residents through the arduous work and visionary leadership of the Hopkins County Freedom Ball Committee.By attending the Freedom Ball, you are also encouraging these engaged committee members to keep up the excellent work! You may also want to show your support by purchasing a Freedom Ball t-shirt.  They are $25 for short sleeved and $30 for long sleeved.  I am sure donations would also be appreciated.Won’t you please join me in supporting our local Veterans and current military men and women by attending the 2022 Hopkins County Freedom Ball on Saturday, May 21?  Go to Tully Insurance on Jefferson Street or the Hopkins County Treasurer’s Office in the Courthouse to purchase your tickets, t-shirts, or make a donation.   The Freedom Ball is about a month away, so act quickly!

As we often hear, “Freedom Isn’t Free.”  We should take every opportunity we have to thank our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.  If not for them, our lives as we know them would be so vastly different.  A night of fun and the price of a ticket are small and effortless ways to say thank you.
