Meet the Chesters

Ryan Chester, being born and raised in Sulphur Springs, spent his childhood hanging out with a crew of cousins. After high school, he moved to Hawaii and later relocated back to Dallas where he met his wife, Sunni who grew up in The Colony. They married in 2006 and knew they wanted to raise their family in Sulphur Springs. Ryan says, “There’s something special about our community and I’m convinced it’s the people that live here”. And Sunni says she quickly, “fell in love with this community and the way they support each other.”

Entrepreneurial Couple

From their home base in Hopkins County, they have owned multiple companies within the Oil & Gas Industry, specializing in the Development and Operations of Oil Producing Leases. As young entrepreneurs they had their hands in all aspects of running a business, wearing many hats. From prospect evaluation, sales and marketing, contract review, managing sub-contractors/vendors, to cultivating relationships with High Net-Worth Investor Clients. Much of which directly correlates to the Real Estate sector.

So you could say that Ryan and Sunni have had a thing for real estate almost as long as they’ve had a thing for each other. By their mid-20s, they purchased their first fixer-upper in Sulphur Springs. And have since, become well versed in flipping property and new home construction. All while assisting others in buying and selling real estate. Sunni says, “It is very gratifying to deliver results for someone who has placed so much trust in us”.

Active Family

The Chesters enjoy being involved with their son’s (Ayden) extracurricular activities as well as their nieces and nephews. Throughout Ayden’s youth tackle football tenure, Ryan volunteered as a Coach for the Offensive and Defensive lineman. During this time Ryan and Sunni both held positions on the Board of Directors for the Sulphur Springs Youth Football and Cheer program. Now they enjoy cheering from the sidelines.

Interestingly, Ryan has competed in multiple combat sports including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA, which he still trains at Combat Base Sulphur Springs. “I like competing. Whether it’s a board game, video game, or family cookoff,” says Ryan. While Sunni has developed friendships within the Sulphur Springs’ P31 Fitness circle and the Community Bible Study group offered at the First Baptist Church. “I enjoy fitness and the camaraderie that comes with it, being a mom and aunt, and my role as a Realtor,” she says.

Working Together

Today, you can find Ryan and Sunni working side by side. They understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It enables them to balance each other and assist in giving the greatest possible service, operating in their clients’ best interests. After obtaining their Real Estate licenses in 2020, they quickly started working. Ryan says, “In Real Estate, no transaction is the same and I enjoy helping others navigate the process”. Sunni adds, “I enjoy the conversations with clients, getting to understand their needs and ultimately helping them to achieve their goals, whether it be buying or selling real estate”.

The Chesters joined Janet Martin Realty because of Janet’s stellar reputation throughout Hopkins County and North East Texas. But what inspires them is what Ryan says best, “People are the heart of our community”. And so it seems, a popular sentiment heard around the real estate industry is how the friendliness of Sulphur Springs impact newcomers. Sunni says, “Although Sulphur Springs is always growing, it still finds a way to keep that small town feel”. Which is why they continue to love raising their family here.
