Saturday, April 9 The “Better Together” fundraiser for Israel Lewis was held at Heritage Park. The event was a huge success, with tons of support from the community.

“It was an incredible community wide event,” event coordinator Ryan McKenzie said. “To support the towns best encourager in Israel Lewis and his family. It was extremely special that his sons were there, his brothers and their families, his in-laws and his mother, that made it extremely special.”

“It was just a true community wide effort,” McKenzie added. “People just offered to volunteer from the get-go, there were wonderful people like Ben Spraggins who supplied the bbq, so big shoutout to the people who donated not only their money but their time and effort.”

“There’s so many people to list by name, but at the end of the day the community just showed up and rallied around a family in need,” McKenzie said. “It’s just another example of how this community rallies around those in need and it’s truly special.”

McKenzie spoke about how great the event was and how it was the perfect day to host the event. “It was a fantastic event with great music by Songbird Jones, a band out of Forth Worth.”

“We had the perfect day to host the event, it had been windy in the days before and the day after, but Saturday was an absolutely perfect day for it and the event went all the way until dark.”

McKenzie also had a message for anybody who was unable to attend the event, but still wanted to show support.

“Thanks to all who participated in the event for the Lewis family this weekend! It was a huge success! For those who were unable to attend, you can still contribute by sending a donation to the Lewis Family Venmo account.”

The Venmo account is @Lewis_Family_Benefit. Any and all donations are appreciated.
