Lady Cats climb to No. 8 in rankings
This weeks edition of the Texas Girls Coaches Association State Softball Poll was released, with both Como-Pickton and Sulphur Springs once again finding themselves in the top 10. In last weeks ranking the Lady Eagles found themselves at No. 6 in the 2A poll, while Sulphur Springs came in at No. 9 in the 5A poll.
Como-Pickton
The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles once again find themselves at No. 6 in this weeks rankings, despite a huge win in their most recent outing. The Lady Eagles are one of only three teams in the 2A rankings who find themselves with 20 or more wins, along with Floydada and Italy.
The Lady Eagles will have another pair of chances to keep their momentum going this week, starting with a home game against Detroit Tuesday. Later in the week they travel to Bogata to take on Rivercrest.
With six games remaining on their schedule, the Lady Eagles have the chance to reach the 25-win mark before entering postseason play. Further coverage of Como-Pickton’s season will be provided on Front Porch News.
Sulphur Springs
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats saw yet another climb, this time, making their way to No. 8 in this weeks rankings. The Lady Cats have been red hot as of late, winning nine games in a row, including their first seven district games.
Sulphur Springs had a bye last Tuesday and used their time to regroup for the final half of district play. The Lady Cats came back with a big win Friday, beating Hallsville 4-3.
The Lady Cats will look to keep their hot play rolling with a pair of home games this week. They host Longview Tuesday, before hosting Mount Pleasant Friday. The first time around the Lady Cats beat the two teams by a combined score of 8-0.
