Yvonne Waters, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, TX passed away on Monday, March 21, in Sulphur Springs, TX. Services to celebrate the life of Yvonne will be held at a later date. She will be inurned in Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. Yvonne was born in October of 1934, in Baltimore, MD. She married Thomas Waters at the Loch Raven Methodist Church in Baltimore, MD, in June 1956. She received her Bachelor of Science in teaching, and though she never formally taught in a school, loved that she was able to teach her two children.

She was proud to be an Army wife and support her husband. Yvonne loved being involved in her communities. As an officer’s wife she would celebrate and enrich the lives of members of those in the military community through leadership in the wives’ club, friendship, recreation, volunteerism, and philanthropy. She was a Girl Scout Leader for her local troop, and was very active in her church, as she was a lifelong Christian. She loved seeing the world and was an avid traveler during her life, visiting countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Germany, England, Korea and many others. She also loved spending every 4th of July week in Ocean City, MD with her children and grandchildren, a tradition that she continued since childhood.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Waters and wife Tracy Waters of Georgia; daughter, Wendy W. Baker, and husband Daniel Baker of Pickton, TX; grandchildren Alexandra Waters, Allegra Waters, Lillian Waters. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Tom.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tapp Funeral Home.
