Springtime in East Texas is the most radiant time of year. During this time, flowers are finally beginning to blossom, trees are flourishing, and unique creatures are returning from their prolonged dormancy. Although this time of year is full of laughter and partial suntans, this specific season can also be very unpredictable. Here are some simple tips and instructions for steering clear of any inconvenience this season.

We all experience the physical downfall of annual allergies. It might sound a little far-fetched; however, getting day-to-day exercise is essential for sustaining a healthy body and mindset in spring 2022. For example, being active daily helps strengthen your body’s immune system. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a daily walk or jog can help produce chemicals in the body called endorphins which, “reduce the risk of depression and anxiety”. Endorphins also help generate positive emotions, so the rejuvenating spring breeze against your face can promote well-being, relieve stress, and is a simple task you can do to fight off allergies, colds, and the winter blues without struggle.

Another component we wrestle with in this renewing season is daylight savings time, DST. When spring rolls around, we rotate the clocks forward. Because of this, we lose a crucial hour of rest. It’s as if we had finally created a groove with time, and it just slips away from us as we sleep. Once we lose that hour, it seems to take its toll for weeks. Our body’s alarm clock is thrown off balance and causes us to be more lackadaisical. Because of these unfortunate effects, people recommend going to sleep extra early, specifically on daylight savings eve, to try and avoid an irregular schedule.

According to an article written by Lauren Bedosky on Everyday Health, ¨you can use natural sunlight to get your body clock as closely in tune with the sun clock as possible.¨ This can allow your body to get into a new rhythm at a more accelerated pace. In that case, wake up a little earlier than usual, sit on the porch, catch a glimpse of the beautiful East Texas sunrise, and help your body stay ahead of daylight savings time.

When it comes to this sunny yet misty-filled season, small modifications to your winter habits can get you ready for the sunny days ahead. With these few recommendations in mind, it might be easier to avoid some of the unpredictable changes that occur during this Texas spring season. As you make these preparations, feel free to step into relaxation this Spring with your family and friends any way you choose.
