The Miller Grove Hornets hosted Fruitvale Tuesday, looking to stay undefeated on the season. The Hornets have gotten off to a good start, winning each of their first four games of the season.

Jagger Qualls was the starting pitcher for Miller Grove, and wasted no time finding a rhythm, striking out the side in order in the top of the first. Qualls also started a rally for Miller Grove in the bottom of the frame, hitting a two-out double which led to a pair of runs in the inning.

Qualls kept his hot start going in the top of the second, once again racking up three strikeouts in the frame. The Hornets offense kept things going in the bottom of the frame, adding another pair of runs to make it a 4-0 game.

Miller Grove’s offense went up another notch in the third and fourth innings, scoring six runs in each frame, winning the game by a final score of 16-1. Qualls got the win, going all four innings without allowing a hit, also striking out 11 batters.

Riley Hasten, Jacob George, Landon Burnett, Lexton Sly and Lance Davis each had a pair of hits, helping lead the Hornets to 16 runs. Hasten also led the team with four RBI, with Sly right behind him with three.

The win makes the fifth of the season for Miller Grove, improving their record to 5-0. They will look to make it 6-0 when they face Fruitvale again Friday, this time at Fruitvale. Coverage of the game will be provided on Front Porch News.
