The Lady Cat soccer team faced off against Texas High, Tuesday night at Gerald Prim stadium. The Lady cats fought for possession of the ball much of the night, defending within their half of the field more often than not.  The struggle for the girls to connect passes and progress the ball forward, ended the game in a loss.

While the Lady Cats were able to score, the first goal of the game came from a corner kick by Haylee Schultz to the center of the pack, where Kylie Clarke got a foot on the ball and connected it to the back of the net.  The goal seemed to boost the team’s attitude and they kept striving to move the ball to the other end of the field.  Half time saw the Lady Cats up by 1.

The second half of the game began much like before. Possession and control were challenging for the Lady Cats and eventually Texas High took advantage of missed opportunities. They were able to have some give and go passing deep in the box, a player slipped behind the line and was able to score. That brought the score to a 1-1 tie.

Barely  a minute later, when Texas passed the ball and another defensive slip gave the Lady Tigers their second goal of the night. Texas High 2-1 over the Lady Cats.

That second goal did not deter the Lady Cats, who did not give up.  A few good runs to the opposing sides, goal box, and long kicks where the keeper was able to come out and retrieve the ball, resulted in no more goals from Sulphur Springs.

There are three more distrit games left remaining in the season.  Next Tuesday night will be the last home game and Senior night for the Lady Cats.  We hope you will join the team in the stands and come cheer on the girls while they play Pine Tree.
