Obituary Virgil Ray Taylor

Funeral services for Virgil Ray Taylor, age 66, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Spence Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Gravens and Bro. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Chris Spencer, Billy Capps, Taylor Coleman, “Little” Floyd Taylor, Bryan Johnson, and Billy Flanery serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at West Oaks Funeral Home. Virgil passed away on December 31, 2021, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs. He was born on September 17, 1955, in Cooper, TX, the son of Elwin and Hazel Fox Taylor. He married Pamela Jane Bell on January 20, 1978, in Sulphur Springs, TX. He was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as a custodian there for a few years. He also worked for Northeast Texas Farmers Coop for over 21 years. Virgil is survived by his wife, Pamela Taylor of Sulphur Springs, brothers, David Taylor of Sulphur Springs, Floyd Taylor of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Dorothy Easley of Rotan, TX, Patricia Lopez of Sulphur Springs, Wanda Godfrey of Sulphur Springs, Sharon Normandeau of Sulphur Springs, Joyce Campbell of Sulphur Springs, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gene Taylor, Roy Taylor, James Donald Taylor, and sisters, Goldie Flanery, Eula Coleman, and Linda Campbell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope’s House at First Baptist Church, Hopkins County Animal Protection League, of St. Jude Children’s Research. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
