Obituary for Lynn Meyer Wright

Lynn Meyer Wright of Frederick, Colo., formerly of Sulphur Springs, passed away on December 28, 2021, in Longmont, Colo., after suffering a heart attack. He was aged 67. He was born in Sulphur Springs on March 1,1954, to Anne Margaret Meyer Wright and Emory “Pete” Lamar Wright, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (formerly Massingill) Wright, who also grew up in Sulphur Springs and now lives in Frederick; his children and their families, Megan and Ross Forsbergh of Sterling, Virginia; Whitney and Jeremy Avera of Conroe, Texas; and Andrew Wright of Houston. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Kelly Nishi and her husband Mike Nishi of Erie, Colo.

Also surviving him are his brother Stan Wright and his sister-in-law Florence Wright of Kaneohe, Hawaii; six grandchildren, a nephew and niece. He is also survived by his cousin Claudene Dixon of Sulphur Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife Vicki Lynn Wright of Kingwood, Texas.

Lynn graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1972 and from East Texas State University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree. He had a 33-year career as a geologist in the areas of oil and gas, mining and environmental remediation, working throughout Texas and the Southern states.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Sulphur Springs. Lynn also had been president of the Texas Ground Water Association, a member of its board and earned a lifetime membership honor from that group.

An avid fisherman, Lynn also enjoyed traveling through Colorado and the West, cooking, gardening, attending rodeos and country music.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Calvary Bible Church, 615 Evans St., in Erie, Colo. Memorial contributions in his honor should be made to https://www.donoralliance.org.
