Obituary For Ronnie Gowin

  • PublishedDecember 9, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ronnie Gowin, of Emory, Texas, on December 4, 2021, at the age of 78 years.

Ronnie went to be with the Lord in his home with his wife, Sue, and sons, David and Stephen by his side. He was born on July 24, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to Elmer and Rachael Wade Gowin. He married the love of his life, Wanda Sue Perew, on July 23, 1965. They had two sons, David Paul Gowin and Stephen Wade Gowin. Ronnie was a devoted and loving husband, father, and PawPaw. His family meant everything to him.

Ronnie was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired from the United States Postal Service. When Ronnie was not with his wife and family, you could find him outside working, generally on his tractor. He loved to take his kids and grandkids hunting and fishing. He and Sue enjoyed years of traveling to distant places. Some of their fondest memories are from sitting around the campfire with family and friends and camping in their RV. Ronnie was a member of Emory Baptist Church and loved his church family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years; his children, David and wife Jill of Emory, Texas and Stephen and wife Keri of Emory, Texas; grandchildren, Kelby and wife Ashley of Midland, Texas, Gus, Aubrey, Avery, and Hagen Gowin of Emory, Texas; great granddaughter, Lyla Gowin; brothers, Danny and wife Sherian, Kenneth and wife Doris, Larry (Bo), and Perry Gowin, and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wayne Gowin, and his nephew, Windell Gowin.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Dunbar Cemetery Association, PO Box 962, Emory, Texas, 75440 or the American Cancer Society.
