The city swore in Natalie Darrow as city secretary and Nate Smith as city attorney at the regular Dec. 7 council session.

Darrow has already begun work at the city offices. Retiring city secretary Gale Roberts will continue as an assistant until December 22.

Smith will begin work as city attorney on December 8, 2021. Retiring city attorney Jim McLeroy will continue as an assistant until December 31.

Mayor John Sellers thanked McLeroy for his “wonderful service to our community,” as well as their “good advice to the council and myself [Sellers].”

City manager Marc Maxwell said McLeroy has been “a counselor and a friend.”

Sellers thanked Roberts for her service as well, and commended her for keeping Maxwell “on the straight and narrow, most of the time.”

Maxwell said Roberts has “picked me up so many times, had my back so many times… I love her.”

Darrow, Smith, McLeroy, and Roberts received a hearty round of applause from the citizen audience.
