Obituary For Jerry Otho Carlisle

Funeral service for Jerry Otho Carlisle, age 76, of Point, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Emory, Texas. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. Lunch and Visitation will be held prior to service starting at 11:30 am.

Jerry Otho Carlisle was born on January 4, 1945, in Paris, Texas to Otho Jeffie Carlisle and Maurine Macon Miller. He died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Sulphur Springs.

Jerry married Lana Shockley on July 7, 1995, in Athens, TX.  His retired years were dedicated to giving back and honoring veterans.  He served actively with the American Legion and spent endless hours transporting local disabled veterans to their doctor appointments.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Carlisle; sons, Shawn Carlisle and wife Vena, Scott Carlisle, Jack Carlisle, Alan Henderson Jr, and wife Kerry; daughters, Becky McManus and Jackie Oxford; sisters, Jean Jones, Jackie McGinty and husband Charlie, Jennifer Jamison, Janet Sue Toney; brother Robert James Carlisle and wife Donna; grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Megan, Cole, Nicholas, Chaz, Riley, Logan, Landon, and Reagan; great-grandchild, Caybree.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnny Carlisle; sister, Jodie Dusek; grandson Nate Oxford; brother-in-law, Cliff Jones
