Hopkins County is gearing up for the 11th annual Turkey Trot, a Thanksgiving day tradition.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on November 25, located at the downtown square in Sulphur Springs.

There are three races open to all ages: kids fun run, 5K, and 10K.

All kids receive a participation medal, and those who register by the end of the day on Nov. 12 will receive a commemorative Turkey Trot 2021 t-shirt for free.

Registration is accepted up until the day of the event.

“The race is a great event because it burns calories, your metabolism is faster and you feel better about sitting down to a big Thanksgiving meal,” one of the race organizers, Kati Adair said.

The event raises money for the Mothers’ Culture Club, and this year MCC will be donating funds to Journey Road. Journey Road helps support kids in the foster care system in the northeast Texas region.

“Journey Road is a wonderful organization, and there is a huge need for them in Hopkins County,” Adair said. “It’s also turned into a family tradition. We have mother-daughter pairs, parents and their kids, and even out-of-town relatives join in before everyone starts preparations for the day.”

Businesses are also welcome to sponsor the event. Contact Kati Adair at 903-243-2304 to learn more.
