It was a total shutout for Saltillo’s junior high baseball team, as they defeated Yantis 5-0 in their Monday evening matchup.

While Yantis remained scoreless, Saltillo brought in one run in the first, three runs in the third and one additional run in the sixth inning.

Coach Bret Myers does not credit the win to the Yantis team being unskilled.

“We had a great performance from our pitchers,” Myers noted. “We were able to shut down a very game Yantis team.”

Saltillo JH boys team is now 4-1 in their season.

They next play tonight, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. in Fruitvale.
