Obituary for Kenneth Walker
  • PublishedSeptember 7, 2021

Kenneth Lee Walker beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away at his home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at age 51. While he had been living with a variety of complications from diabetes, his death came unexpectedly. Ken was born and raised in Bonham, Texas, had spent part of his youth in Los Alamos, New Mexico where he later returned as an adult to be close to his “momma” and where in 1999 he met the love of his life, Jennifer Levings, and they were married in 2002. The two would later relocate to northeast Texas, eventually settling in Sulphur Springs.

Ken will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and excellent sense of humor. He loved his family, children, and grandchildren.

Ken had great compassion for animals and throughout his life had rescued numerous lost or rejected dogs and cats providing them with a safe and loving home. He also had a love for dirt-track stock car racing which he had shared with his father early in life. Ken recently watched his final races with his uncle Danny at Grayson County Speedway. Ken was deeply sentimental about that track and its connections to his late father, Bobby Walker.

Ken may be best remembered for his passion for the game of golf which had been passed on to him from his maternal grandfather, also a Ken. He pursued this passion through various jobs in golf operations, having worked at various courses in New Mexico and Texas. The motivation for his jobs at golf courses was to support his enthusiasm for playing the game as often as possible. He was an accomplished player and helped many others improve their game with tips and lessons. The golf course was truly his happy place and he leaves behind a long list of golfing buddies.

Ken is proceeded in death by his father Bobby Walker, sister Katie Walker, grandparents Cubby and Ken Grisham and A.L. and Lucille Walker, and mother-in-law Patti Levings.

He is survived by wife Jennifer Walker of Sulphur Springs, Texas; mother Diedra “Debbie” Thomas and stepfather Dan Thomas of Los Alamos, New Mexico; father-in-law Stephen Levings, of Wausau, Wisconsin; brother Joe (Liz) Walker of Los Alamos; sister Amanda (Chris) Skidmore of Farmington, New Mexico; sister Cindy (Chris) Hawthorn, of Sherman, Texas; son Bryant Walker of Dallas, Texas; daughter Haley Walker of Denison, Texas; along with 3 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family in Texas, New Mexico, and Wisconsin.

Ken has been cremated and no services are planned. His friends and family are encouraged to take some time to remember Ken and do something to celebrate and share their memories of his life. In Ken’s honor and memory, have a good meal, play a round of golf, or do something kind for a friend or an animal.
