The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to be on the lookout for persons described in an Amber Alert from nearby Rusk (Cherokee County).
Authorities are in search of Ashlynn and Desmond Wells, age 10 and 11 and suspect Jesse Ray Schmidt, age 32. They are possibly in a black, two-door Honda Civic, Texas license plate BNX6155.
Ashlynn is 5 foot 2, 109 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a peach t-shirt, peach shorts, and gray and pink Nike running shoes.
Desmond is 5 foot 5, 154 pounds with brown eyes and blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and black t-shirt, grey shorts and Wolverine hiking boots.
Schmidt is 5 foot 10, 160 pounds with hazel eyes, brown, long hair and a beard.
“It appears that these children where left in the suspects care yesterday and now all three are unaccounted for,” HCSO stated.
While the vehicle matches a description of an alleged attempted kidnapping that occurred last night in Hopkins County, HCSO says they do not believe the incidents are related. Still, they say, they are “not ruling anything out.”
