Senior Center Superhero Prom

Are your elders your heroes? They will be this weekend, as the Senior Activity Center kicks off its annual Senior Prom– and this year it’s superhero themed.

Senior Center coordinator Karon Weatherman is currently overseeing that the building is decorated in the bright colors and joyous imagery that accompanies the superheroes of yesteryear.

Entertainment will be provided by Dell Cummings, who performs music from the 1960s and 1970s, Weatherman said.

The evening’s menu includes pulled pork, potato salad, cowboy baked beans, coleslaw, rolls, strawberry shortcake, and pecan caramel brownies.

“There are lots of door prizes thanks to community businesses that really came through,” Weatherman said.

Sponsors include (but are not limited to): Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab, West Oak Funeral Home, Wesley House, Murray Orwosky Funeral Home as well as individual sponsors.

“Businesses in town have been bringing in prizes and it’s starting to look really festive,” Weatherman said. “We’re all really excited about the event.”

Doors open Saturday, August 21 at 6:00 p.m. For more information on how to register to attend, contact the Senior Activity Center at 903-885-1661.
