Rain storms are possible this afternoon and evening in the Hopkins County area, although will mainly be predicted across the northwest and along the Red River, according to the National Weather Service. Gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall may occur, and greater thunderstorm chances will arrive this weekend.

Friday has a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Skies are partly sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values may reach as high as 101. Friday night has a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Skies are mostly cloudy, with a low around 76.

Saturday holds a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 93. Heat index values may be as high as 99. Saturday night has a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m. Skeis are mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. 

Sunday has a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with otherwise partly sunny skies and a high near 88. Sunday night holds a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 72.
