James Litzler, who works at Vice President General Counsel at City National Bank in Sulphur Springs, recently published a children’s book that’s now widely available for purchase online.

Litzler’s legal writing may be more well-known after practicing law for three decades in Hopkins County but it’s his hobby of writing light-hearted poetry that led to publishing his first book. The book, “If You Pick a Pair of Peacocks”, tells the Bible story of Noah and the Ark.

Litzler, the son of a Baptist minister and an English teacher, credits his mother and father for instilling in him a love of stories and a well-turned phrase. James and his wife, Janie Litzler, first moved to Hopkins County in the early 1990s. Now Litzler hopes, “If You Pick a Pair of Peacocks” and other similar stories he’s written will help instill the same love of story in his own grandchildren.

The Seussian style of the poem and the beautiful illustrations of animals are sure to entertain children, but the tongue-twisting, alliteration-filled phrases in “If You Pick a Pair of Peacocks” make it a fun book at any age.

Released in early July, the book is available in both hardback and paperback online at major retailers Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Target. The book is also available digitally on Kindle and Nook.
