Meal a Day Volunteers and Hopkins County Genealogical Society Honored at Retired Senior Volunteer Banquet

From Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center Director Karon Weatherman:

Meal A Day was honored with the “2020 Grace Under Pressure Award” at the Retired Senior Volunteer Banquet on Thursday, June 3rd at the New Beginnings Church.  
 
The Award was given for all of the wonderful work and services that the Senior Citizens Center and the Meal A Day Program provided to the County during the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Below is a recommendation that was written by Karon Weatherman to the Board of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program about the Volunteers of Meal A Day and the Senior Citizens Center.  
 
John Little, Meal A Day and Senior Citizen Center Volunteer was awarded the “2020 Volunteer of the Year” for his tireless work as a volunteer.  John Little teaches the “Fit and Strong Class” at the Senior Citizens Center 3 Days a week.  John and Mary Ellen also deliver Meals for Meal A Day every Friday.   John also volunteers at the First United Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher and also Vacation Bible School Teacher.      He is an awesome person and is loved by everyone who knows him. 
   
The Hopkins County Genealogy Library won “2020 Station of the Year” for the Wonderful work they do in our County to keep our History alive.   
 
The Theme of the Banquet was “Volunteers are Happy Campers” 
 
The Meal was Catered by Phat Phil’s  BBQ. 
 
Volunteers from different Stations in Hopkins County attended the Banquet and enjoyed the Food, Fellowship and Lots of Door Prizes.   The Hopkins County RSVP Board Served the BBQ Dinner.
