The Hopkins County Commissioner’s Court passed a resolution on Monday formalizing their opposition to Senate Bill 234/House Bill 749.

Texas Senate Bill 234 and House Bill 749 would prohibit county funds from being used to join and support nonprofit county associations that provide communication to state legislators.

The resolution states that, “county officials require the ability to express our positions and information through associations, form a unified voice on the issues important to our communities, and share the associated costs among all counties.”

The full resolution passed by the Commissioner’s Court is below.
