Funeral services for Melvin “Ace” Wiginton, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Jordan and Bro. Steve Holmgren officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Brandon McKnight, Wade Cooper, Dustin Cooper, Lupe Diasdado, Robert McKnight, and Michael Wiginton serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., prior to service time. Ace passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1941 in Woodsboro, TX, the son of Omar Martin and Geneva Josephine Gagler Wiginton. He retired from the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later retired from Classic Lanes Bowling Alley. He married Ann McCartney on June 18, 1963 in New York City. Ace loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He is survived by wife, Ann Wiginton of Sulphur Springs, sons, Melvin Martin Wiginton Jr and Patty Barnhill of Columbus, OH, Michael Sean Wiginton of Sulphur Springs, daughters, Michelle Holmgren and husband Steve of Hot Springs, AR, Marlene Cooper and husband David of Seymour, MO, Marlo McKnight and husband Randy of Sulphur Springs, sister, Maude Corbin of Victoria, TX, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 130 Lee St., Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
