Three Sulphur Springs residents were arrested on aggravated kidnapping charges on Wednesday by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly locking a child in a closet. One of the suspects was also charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

HCSO obtained a search warrant for a residence on CR 4708 after an outcry was made about incidents that occurred in 2018.

Edward Faris Troutt Jr., Deborah Ann Troutt, and Elizabeth Ann Karst were alleged to have locked a child that was in their care in the closet. The child reportedly suffered injury as a result of the mistreatment.

Locking devices were discovered on the closet during the search by HCSO.

An arrest warrant was obtained for all three and Troutt Jr., Troutt, and Karst were taken into custody.

All three are charged with Aggravated Kidnapping. Edward Faris Troutt Jr. is also charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
