Funeral service for Joy Matlock, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Danny Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Sherley Cemetery with David Swanson, Wade Jones, Chris Hammons, Deke Jones, Bradford Diener, Caleb Wiler, Hayden Wiler, Tyler Wiler, Jonah Ferrell and Chase Garcia serving as pallbearers and Mark Swanson, Jordan Jones and Juddson Maloney serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. Matlock passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Carriage House Manor.
Joy was born on January 23, 1935 in Hopkins County to John and Vena Douglas. She owned Joys Barber Shop and Joys Music Store. Joy was a member of House of Prayer.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Swanson and husband, Lanoy of Sulphur Springs, Janie Patton of Sulphur Springs, Betty Jones and husband, Roger of Sulphur Springs, Diann Diener and husband, Brad of Mahoney, Amy Matlock of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Mark and David Swanson, Jennifer Patton, Jessica Patton, Juddson Maloney, Wade Jones, Chris Hammons, Leiah Garcia, Deke Jones, Jordan Jones, Heather Nolen, Brandy Robinson, Hannah Morris, Bradford Diener, Caleb Wiler, Tyler Wiler, Haden Wiler, Abigail Wiler, Jonah Ferrell, Lesley Overstreet; thirty-nine great grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Leslie Townsend; granddaughter, Kim George; three sisters and two brothers.
