Hopkins County Cross Country Teams Recognized by Hopkins County Commissioners Court for Achievements at State Cross Country Meet

Judge Newsom with Miller Grove Boys Cross Country Team

 

Hopkins County Commissioners Court recognized the achievements cross country runners across three county schools on Monday with proclamations read by Judge Robert Newsom.

Sulphur Bluff’s Bailey Neal was recognized for her third place finish at the state cross country meet. 

Saltillo’s Boys Cross Country team was recognized for their second place finish at the state cross country meet. Team members are  Coy Collins, Colton McGill, Drew Redburn, Garrett Tarver, Gunner Tarver, Cristian Trejo, and David Whitworth. Garrett Tarver was recognized for his second place finish in the individual standings at the state meet.

Miller Grove’s Girls Cross Country team was recognized for their second place finish at the state cross country meet. Team members are  Lauren Bullard, Jorja Bessonett, Jolee Fox, Jamilyn Hensley, Kylee Saldana, and Alaira Serrano.

Miller Grove’s Boys Cross Country team was recognized for their first place finish at the state cross country meet. Team members are Tanner Hensley, Anthony Lester, Riley Hasten, Kavan Smith, Ethan George, Isaiah Billingsley, Lance Davis, Kobe Robertson. Isaiah Billingsley was also recognized for winning the state title in the individual standings.

Miller Grove coaches were recognized for their leadership of their teams. Miller Grove Boys Cross Country finished the year as the top ranked team nationally in the National High School Coaches Association’s Final Division II Small School Team Championship Rankings. Coaches recognized were Gary Billingsley, Ana Billingsley, Blake Hill, and Cody Walker.
